zd-mini-0002
I reported a while ago that ep #51 was on the table. Still is.

I’ve been working on producing a special mini-comic version of Zyn Dweomer, which I hope to list on the site and offer for sale to the die hard readers (you know who you are!). At this stage I’m planning each mini to be 4.25″ x 5.5″, which is a classic mini-comic size in the USA. Each ish will be at or around 12 pages of comics plus a few pages of extras. One of the extras will be a sketch drawn directly into the book itself, making each copy an art object…something unique and not just a photocopied zine. Each will also be in full color, printed right here on my desktop more than likely. I’m working on some other ideas to make these little comics cool as hell.

So, back to the current strip, I’m not sure when #51 will go up. It won’t be much longer but I’m struggling with whether or not to change the format from strip to something that corresponds with the mini-comic size. So I’ve given myself a small cooling off period before I make that decision. I tend to make rash decisions out of passion and then burn out on them…I’m working hard to prevent that from happening so often.

This comic has been live since the end of December 2008 and my interest and passion for it have not diminished on the whole. This is a very good thing…I really love this comic, I love the subject matter, and I love being the sole creator. It’s my world and I look forward to exploring it further and further.

More soon…

The new full size pages are in the works and I’m pleased to say they are looking sharp. At least I think so!

I’ll post some teasers here and there. Pretty soon I’ll announce a re-start date and begin posting weekly updates as much like clockwork as I possibly can.

I’m geeking out here, hope you like it.

Firing it Up

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Ok, so I’ve been working on Zyn Dweomer as a full size comic book. Naturally, I don’t have enough time or focus to simply knock out page after page so it’s slow going. But I do have quite a bit of work finished. So I decided to start posting segments of each page in weekly installments to try and get the webcomic back on some kind of regular schedule.

For now there are new episodes scheduled well into April! Each Monday, right here, you can follow the adventures of Westwood Company and experience the unfolding world of Zyn Dweomer!

So rock on.

Started doing these little strips a few weeks ago. I still don’t know what they are going to be called. Probably fits into the Zyn Dweomer mythos, but not sure how just yet.

New Comic Has a Title?

Six strips into this thing and I still didn’t have a name. I was hesitant to name it after a character or a set of characters or even a setting. I want to keep it loose, but I do need some kind of direction. And the Brothers do seem to be it. So Assassin Bros. Unlmited it is.

Schedule

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

I’m comfortable enough with the way things are going to bump up my posting schedule to twice a week. Starting tomorrow Zyn Dweomer will be updated every Monday and Wednesday!

Joy to the world. Let there be goblins, skulls, and really bad wizards.

Fight!

hurkefightYeah, drawing comics is a constant battle. It’s not easy. Especially for a self publisher operating far, far below the radar. But that’s my lot and always has been. And its great on far more levels than not.

I get to decide what I draw, when I draw it, and how I draw it. I get to explore whatever I want. I get to choose my format. The only thing I can’t readily choose is how many people get to see it. Ah, wouldn’t that be a nifty trick?

So yeah, comics. You keep drawing them because they are your voice and you want to say some stuff. So I’m speaking in a language that feels comfortable to me.
